    using Clonezilla ...

    I am creating image of my hard drive using clonezilla and saving it on usb(16gb). My hard drive is of 80 GB so is it necessary the USB should also be a 80 gb or the place where i am placing image should have 80GB or it can be saved in less space ......... As I created one of my 40GB hd it took 3.7 GB space on usb for its image.....So the image size depends on the data on hd or what ???

    As long as it is a supported file system, it will only back up the used blocks. What are you backing up, ext, ntfs or what ?

    I have 2 Ubuntu installs on one of my disks and the disk image is 3.4 gig, however the vista image from another disk is 16.7 gigs.

    I'd think you'd be fine.
