12.04 Creating and Renaming Folders Crashes!

I've had lots of trouble with Save As causing issues with GIMP and sort of just ruled it out as a GIMP problem but now I'm having a similar crashing issue with File Folders causing crashes.

I create a new folder and right click and rename it to my desired name under properties and boom... crashes and I loose where I'm at. I can always re-navigate to the location but it's a little frustrating.

This is on an Auto Mounted location. I should try it on the native linux partitioning and see if results are the same.

What crashes? Is it the complete OS, or the application you are using (eg, GIMP, as per your example) or just the nautilus window, if that is the way you are renaming something?

It's only crashing the folder. I end up having to navigate back to where I was and rename. The "New Folder" is still there but the name I gave it doesn't stick.

When I re-open it and then rename it works just fine.

    Open a terminal:

    Code:
    dmesg | tail -50
Post any disk-related messages. Do this immediately after a crash. I assume this is a repeatable event.

Here's that. Not sure which line the problem shows on but just had more crashing (after a month of running good).

    Code:
    nick@NickUbuntu:~$ dmesg | tail -50
