    Curious Skype problems

    Hi all

Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 64bit Skype 4.1.0.20 Unity desktop

During a chat, whenever one of my other contacts came on or went off line, Skype crashed. There was an error message but I didn't catch it.

Since then I was having another chat & my contact tried her video, this worked for a few seconds then Skype crashed & I was booted back to having to log into Ubuntu.

I decided to uninstall & re-install but when I go into Software Centre, it's as if Skype does not exist at all.

Any ideas on how I should proceed?

OK, maybe I should have been more obvious.

I can not use Skype & think I should try to remove it & re-install it. However, I'm concerned as to why the Software Centre doesn't think Skype even exists at all. I am worried something has become corrupted.

Can anyone suggest how to check for possible corruption in Software Centre & how I should go about uninstalling Skype & reinstalling it.

The only updates applied to my system have been the usual system updates.
