how to remove fbi malware

I have this xp machine with the fbi malware on it.

I ran Ubuntu live cd and ran clam tk with the current database files

it detected nothing

hows the best way to get rid of it.

I cannot boot into safe mode just reboots when I try
fbi malware locks the computer so I can't do anything on it

help please

First off I moved the thread.

Secondly - had one of these on a friends machine - I used this to clear the fbi thing http://www.surfright.nl/en/kickstart

It's free for a one-off use without registering, you'll get the idea once it starts

Could boot into normal or safe mode then.

the best utility to remove viruses and trojans is combofix (free download). use it at our repair shop. be careful because it is very powerful. it is from a site called bleeping computer. google it!

For stubborn malware, I've used Kasperksy's free Rescue cd: https://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk

The best thing about it is that you don't need to boot Windows. It's a customized Gentoo install that can load into a KDE desktop or start in text mode and run the scanner. It's useful if you have a boot sector infection (which can't be easily cleared when Windows is running).
