I believe the website for X-Men 3 requires Flash 8.

The best way to use Flash 8 in Ubuntu is to install the Windows version of Firefox using Wine. Full instructions here.

Sorry to say this, but Adobe s*cks here. It seems they don't care at all linux users.

And following your how-to - well written - is kinda big for viewing some sites with flash 8...

Unfortunately, such is life.

You give up some of the conveniences of Windows for the conveniences of Ubuntu. And one of the conveniences of Windows is full third-party support. Adobe would never make software for Ubuntu that's not available for Windows.

Frankly, on a personal level, I don't really care. I care in the larger scheme of things. I care for my fellow woman (and man). But I hate Flash. I hate sites that extensively use Flash. I love the "skip intro" button, and I firmly believe that if your site needs to include a "skip intro" button, maybe you should just skip it for everybody.

I don't go to websites for entertainment and broken back and forward buttons and links that don't change color. I go for information.

Visit the adobe flash site...
Here is one test that might work
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowled...fm?id=tn_15507
There are others that JUST test if flash is present too.

Re: flash sites that dont work

Some of the sites I have ran across check for the latest version of flash but the content is still the same as it always has been and works in a older flash version. You just have to get past the check. Of course this is not always the case, sometimes menus are broken or dont show up.

IMO flash reeks also. It is fine as a addition to a site but should never be required. I like the front page with a choice for a flash version of a site and a no-flash version. Simple menus done with flash is just pointless since there are other ways to do something simple like that.

Anyway... anyone else have some sites or do I need to search and dig back thru the forum?
