Unable to acces network.
Hi all,
I am new to Ubuntu and I am having a problem with my network card on my dell inspiron 580. It doesn’t seem to be able to connect to my LAN network. I am using a freshly installed version of Ubuntu 12.10, with updates installed. I am currently using a wireless dongle to get to the internet. Here are some frequently asked prints.
berend@HAL9000:~$ lspci -nn | grep -i eth
03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM57788 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe [14e4:1691] (rev 01)
berend@HAL9000:~$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
nameserver 212.54.40.25
nameserver 212.54.35.25
nameserver 192.168.1.1
berend@HAL9000:~$ cat /etc/network/interfaces
# interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
What do I have to do to get it running?

Re: Unable to acces network.
Are you running Ubuntu Desktop, with NetworkManager?
Assuming you are, what do you see under Connection Information?

Re: Unable to acces network.
I restarted a few times and it now seems to work. I have absolutely no idea what went wrong and i hope it stays like this. Thx, for looking.
