Need help please Ubuntu 12.10 not boot after updating

    mount: mounting /dev/disk/by-uuid/53a97ecf-88fd-404e-92f6-29f1fe045db3 on /root
    failed: Invalid argument
mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory
Target filesystem doesn't have requested /sbin/init.
No init found. Try passing init= bootarg.

    I used Ubuntu 12.10
This just happened after I updated something Ubuntu recommended. I didn't do anything else and just restarted my laptop after updating.
How can I fix this? I really need my laptop to work.

    Thank you
