upgrading rawtherapee

Can any one please advise me on
how to upgrade rawtherapee 3.0.0.6 to rawtherapee 4.0.9.157

My system is: Ubuntu release 12.04(precise) 32-bit
Kernel Linux 3.2.0-35-generic-pae
Gnome 3.4.2

Have a look at their download page and select the relevant build, it tells you there how to add to the software centre to install.

excellent! I am done, now, how to get rid of the Rawtherapee 3.0.0.6 version?

Look in the Software centre and search on the installed applications, if there are still two versions installed remove the one you don't need.

I have investigated all possibilities and installed the latest version of RT which is unstable. The result was that I experienced frequent crashes of the system. So I removed RT and will have to wait for a more stable version to become available.
