Ubuntu 11.04 and atheros ar5001 wifi chip problem to scan wifi

    Hi men,
alfter the upgrade of ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04 beta my network card is a bit unstable.

The driver ath5k i correctly mounted into the kernel, the interface i properly detected (and showed in iwconfig list) and the network card is up.

The main problem is at the startup and resume, in this cases the network manager don't show the available wifi network (same scenario with iwlist wlan0 scan command) for a lot of minutes (5-10 minutes... ). After the network card hung up my home wifi network and no other problem emerge since next reboot.

Some idea to solve this situation?

Same problem here... since 10.10 my Atheros 5001 doesn't detect any wifi network, but hardware seems to be properly detected and installed

I have a similar problem with 10.04 and my HP Pavillion DV7-1451nr. The common feature is, of course, the AR5001 Wireless adapter. I can find no error messages, but I still can't make a connection with anything. Here are some commands and the results:

Just a quick note to say I too am affected by this. [Atheros 5001].

A temporary workaround is to manually feed details of your wifi network and then 'connect to a hidden network' - select the pre configured network here. Not ideal but gets me connected every time.

I have Natty but this commands turn on my AR5001 card:
    sudo rmmod -f ath5k
    sudo rfkill unblock all
    sudo modprobe ath5k

    Thread closed.

As per the Ubuntu Forums Code of Conduct, please do not post in threads more than one year old.

Moreover Ubuntu 11.04 had reached EOL on October 28, 2012, you can consider upgrading to a newer version that is supported.

    Thanks and best of luck.
