    Unhappy Empathy Google Talk authorization

So, Empathy keeps telling me that Google Talk needs some kind of authorization. I click on the button and it brings up the Online Accounts window.

Not only is it happening every five seconds with the same account, but it's not even giving me anywhere to grant that authorization.

    Any thoughts?

Empathy seems to be filled with bugs no one cares to talk about. I'm sure they're fixing things, but you have to wait for new Ubuntu releases to see any progresss.

    Re: Empathy Google Talk authorization

Yeah, this bug is ridiculously annoying, can't believe its still not fixed. They need to ditch UOA and empathy if its going to continue to be a bug-riddles mess that never gets fixed. Almost every time I suspend/resume my laptop I get this "google talk requires authorization", and as OP says clicking that does not give me any option to authorize it.

And adding a facebook account doesn't even work anymore in raring, it opens the authorzation in firefox instead of UOA.

    Re: Empathy Google Talk authorization

Looks like Its not even empathy thats the problem here, just ubuntu's meddling with it by replacing GOA with their own UOA. I recently started using arch linux/gnome and I have no such problems with empathy/goa.

I love it when ubuntu breaks upstream software with their own changes and never fixes the issues they introduce.
