Cursor jumps around when typing text

I've searched around for this one, and checked Google for this but haven't found an answer. I've found answers for Kubuntu and Ubuntu but haven't found the solution for Lubuntu. I'm still a newbie here.

Anyway, I have Lubuntu 12.10 on a Lenovo G570 laptop. It is the only OS on the computer (no dual boot).

The problem is the cursor keeps jumping around the page when I'm writing text. The problem also exists when using text and search boxes.

In my search I did come across something called "touch freeze" but couldn't find it for Lubuntu. I'm a student and I write a lot. I'd love it if the cursor became stable. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Question Re: Cursor jumps around when typing text

i am not sure if this will help ya.

i am guessing it is your lappy's touchpad being accidentally tapped.

try disabling your touchpad when writing. you can achieve that by pressing the function key (fn) and the touchpad icon usually in one of the funtion keys (f1-f12) on the top most of your keyboard.

if this did not solve the problem, post a response.

Thanks! That does help. Is there a way in Lubuntu to make the touchpad less sensitive?

I'm not finding dash in Lubuntu. How do I find it? I've checked system stools and preferences. I'm sure I'm just missing it somehow.

    I'm still a newbie ...
