    miro problem torrent downloads freeze

    After upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 on my dual core, 64-bit machine, my miro software has problems downloading torrents. Torrent will start slow and then, after a minute or so, it slows down and stops saying "starting up". It appears there is a bug report, bug 668615, but I've found no fix.

    I use Miro every day, but not to download torrents. Torrents are so tiny, when I download one in my web browser, "start" and "done" happen in the same second.

    What feed has torrents?

    miro can be used to download and play a variety of media file types, including torrents. It has a built-in bittorrent client. .torrent files themselves are often small but contain metadata for downloading larger files.
    Unfortunately, after updating to ubuntu maverick, my miro has problems with torrent downloads.

    An easy solution is to use Transmission for bittorrent downloads.

    @gordintoronto: This isn't a solution. It's a workaround.
