Re: Is DHCP installed by default in ver. 12.04 LTS?

Just to be clear, the 'Auto Ethernet' that I'm talking about is not the one you wrote in (and then removed from) your /etc/network/interfaces file - I meant the one that shows up in the GUI list of Wired network connections

YES. The only Wired Connection now available in the Network Connections applet is

    HomeRunTuners.

that has a MAC address of: 00:18D:01:A7:99

and it is to connect automatically, available to all users and Method (of connecting) is

    Link-Local only

    Require IPv4 is UNCHECKED

Do you have multiple network cards? Your previous posts show eth0 as having H/W (MAC) address 40:61:86:06:56:14

Or maybe you are using MAC cloning?

Maybe you should delete ALL the listed wired connections and start from scratch with a new, clean Link-Local connection definition - making sure that it's using eth0

Is the cable between the computer and the HD Homerun a crossover cable?

If not, then you need a hub or something in between.
24 beers in a case, 24 hours in a day. Coincidence? I think not!

Hi Slim, I agree that's usually the case but it should not be necessary for the HDHomeRun devices - see here --> http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4088

I have confirmed that mine works just fine with a regular (non crossover) cable (although mine is a different - possible newer - version, the auto-MDX feature is supposedly there from 2007)

Please see attached screenshots of cable and it's plugs.

My bad, I tried to configure the wired connection myself. That connnection has been deleted.

Nope, just as I said, above.

I have deleted ALL wired connections. I have "Added" a new wired, link-local connection. Please see attached screenshots re above paragraph.

Crossover detection can be set with:
    Code:
    sudo modprobe -r forcedeth
    sudo modprobe forcedeth phy_cross=1
Please do so and now try to connect. If it helps, we'll need to write a quick configuration file to make it persistent.

Re: Is DHCP installed by default in ver. 12.04 LTS?

    Detection done.

    Is this it?

    From ifconfig:

    inet addr:169.254.4.60 Bcast:169.254.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0

Ethernet connectivity LED on device still flashes.

Net' Mgr. shows named Wired Network connection as connected.

However, HDHomeRun Config at last shows most recent firmware version and can scan for tv signal and show individual channel signal strength. MythTV Config still reports no connectivity.

Knowing nothing about the device in question, it looks very good to me. Back to our regularly scheduled guru, steeldriver.
