Everquest 2 not working (in wine?)

and so as my comment says, I have downloaded Steam via Play on Linux, then downloaded Everquest 2 via Steam. The fonts were not working at first (would say 'failed to init arial, but fixed that with font manager) but i solved that, however, the game now looks like this
I have no idea what to do from here, but I would love to get into some PC gaming, and Ubuntu (12.04) is all I have. Thank you so much for any help!

The link below is to the WineHQ website page -- and the results aren't encouraging as any rating below GOLS for a game means that installing it is essentially a waste of time:
