    VLC media player won't play

    Hi all,

    The issue is that i installed the vlc media player package and plug-ins. I think it is a codec problem because i had done this also a while back with Mint and someone sent me a command to use in the terminal that would allow VLC to play and it worked.

    If anyone knows what terminal commands i need to use please send them. Thanks very much.

    Hi ndex477.

    Could you post the codecs of the file you're trying to play?

    You can get that information on VLC itself by going to
    Code:
    Tools -> Codec Information
    while trying to play the file.

    Regards.

    choose the file you want to play from your external drive within VLC, and then go to what he suggested, Tools > Codec Information
