New guy wants to play DoD:S

Hello ubuntu community! If I could please get some help, I made the switch to linux last week and I am really enjoying it so far but I have a problem my novice mind cannot remedy.

I am trying to play a steam game (DoD:S and CS:S) using PlayOnLinux and the game starts up just fine but as soon as I join a server I am missing text and my mouse is unresponsive other than the left button.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Figured it out, all I had to do was switch wine versions to 1.5.9

Just to let you know, both Counter Strike Source and Day Of Defeat Source have native linux clients! This means you don't need Wine to play them anymore. Just download Steam for Linux, and you'll have them in your Library.

Yeah I found that out before I saw your post thanks though! Do you have issues with frame rate?
When I played off wine I had no problems but now through SteamPipe theres a bit of lag
