    I didn't think they were. How can you allow Javascripting if you don't have Java installed?

    Javascript is read and interpreted by a browser, often embedded in HTML for a "richer and more dynamic browsing experience" which is marketing lingo for "infect with malware and get cross site scripted"

    You can disable it in the browser itself or control it with NOScript in FF or NOTScript in Chrome
