Doom 3 BFG Edition native like the original?

Hey guys! For a long time, I have grown interest in trying out Doom 3, because I always loved playing the original Doom and Wolfenstein 3D. With the BFG edition now released, now seems like an opportune time. I have been hearing about how the original Doom 3 can be installed natively on Linux, too. Is the same also true with the BFG Edition's files, or should I just stick with the original game if I want it to be native? After all, the BFG Edition package seems like a fairly good deal, because I get all three Dooms in one.

    Thanks in advance!
    -Andrew

Didn't Doom 3 need kind of separate Linux installer? Maybe this still works but I guess you should ask in an IDsoft forum and post back here.

It looks like yes, but no idea when.

    These comments should be useful.

    I'd suggest e.g. dhewm3.

That's actually a no. You'll get the source code under the gpl 3, but someone will have to port it and it won't include any of the middleware.

Here is how you install the original, hopefully the new one will be more intuitive

Discussions regarding porting it to Mac and Linux are already underway.
If you are asking about a problem with your system, make sure to give details about your setup. OTHERWISE, NO ONE CAN HELP YOU.

This game is huge, legendary fun!
