    wireless problem

I've first heard of something called ubuntu just two weeks ago and it was 10.10 then I've upgraded it and now I'm using 12.04.1 LTS but the wireless connection was working well on 10.10 but in 11.04 and 11.10 and 12.04 it's not working except when wired so I don't know what to do now ?

    Re: wireless problem

It probably needs a driver. Please do the following:

    • open a terminal window
    • type lspci > ~/abs-wireless.txt <press enter>
    • type lsusb >> ~/abs-wireless.txt <press enter>
    • type iwconfig >> ~/abs-wireless.txt <press enter>
    • type ifconfig >> ~/abs-wireless.txt <press enter>

Please note the first line has single ">", all the rest have 2. The above is creating a file in you home folder with some information we need.

Now post a reply back here, click the paper clip and attach the abs-wireless.txt file from your home folder.

    Cool Re: wireless problem

Same problem here so I hope you don't mind me piggy-backing your question?

    Mine says this:

    martin@martin:~$ type lspci > ~/abs-wireless.txt
    martin@martin:~$ lspci > ~/abs-wireless.txt
    martin@martin:~$ lsusb >> ~/abs-wireless.txt
    martin@martin:~$ iwconfig >> ~/abs-wireless.txt
    lo no wireless extensions.

    eth0 no wireless extensions.

    martin@martin:~$ ifconfig >> ~/abs-wireless.txt
    martin@martin:~$

    lo no wireless extensions.

Yes - should there be more (I'm a beginner here so I'm finding my feet here)

WYSIWYG with that output I'm afraid....

    Re: wireless problem

    Thanks.

Are you saying here that there's a bug-fix been released? I ask because I installed Ubuntu 12.04.01 LTS about 10 days ago.

Also, if it is a bug-fix, I have no clue how to install it (and I'm v new to Ubuntu!) Could you give me a steer?

    Thanks

    PE
