Remove Totem And Replace with SMPlayer

I want to remove Totem
But I want SMPlayer to be my default video player so if I insert in DVD movie I can open it with SMPlayer in Nautilus like default Totem do
Also how can I add multimedia key like play/pause next previous stop to be functioning as well as with Totem
Is it simply to remove from software-center when I Allready installed SMPlayer ?

sudo apt-get autoremove totem

If I am not mistaken, SMPlayer is qt based? Might have problems setting it as default.
