When clicked on Pidgin the 1st time it woobles but doesn't show up. Have to quit from launcher & on 2nd attempt it starts & shows up?

The mail icon only turns blue when I receive a message & not when receive mail, same with audio. Audio only alerts when buddy signs in or out & not with mail?

Any suggestions?
