after taking a look at what they each look like i am going to have to go with kubuntu. xubuntu looks WAAAAAYYYY to low res winblows 3.0 and i am trying to get a visually appealing desktop. lubuntu is alot better but still isnt nearly as appealingas kubuntu.

Not sure where you got low-res from. Did you look at the official screenshots?

ok i stand corrected.appaerently the shots i saw were from an older build or a custom setup most likely then. im going to create a live usb for k and x ubuntu and go from there. i mighttry lubuntu as well but mostlikely not. lubuntu just doesnt seem "right" somehow but i dont know why. as i mentioned before i am a high functioning autistic so itmight just be that it just doesnt meet up with some nebulous standard i have that i couldnt explain if i tried. i will give lubuntu one more look and see but someyhing about it just doesnt appealto me and i dont know why. xubuntu does look a lot betterthan i had previously thought but kubuntu is the best looking outof the three. im a ratheranti windows person in general (mostly for legitimate reasons with a few elitist aspects) but even though kubuntu looks a whole lot like winblows it is the most visually appealing and looks like the perfect training wheels for my mom to try out. im trying to get herto switch over and this might be the perfect way.

is there a way for me to install kubuntu on one partition, while keeping the ubuntu that is on it already ( i know i can do a dual boot, wait for the question) and use a usb drive to transfer files from one distro to the other by switching back and forth untill all of it is transferred and then delete the ubuntu and expand the kubuntu?

Yes, but it would be easier to boot into Kubuntu and copy the files straight from the Ubuntu partition without using a USB drive.
