After I switch to a different user account the display on the monitor is corrupt (garbage) - full of junk; the menu bar and tray do not display, but clicking where menus are on the menu bar, those do function.

Is there a way to tell the graphics system to do a reset (clear the content) and then repaint a fresh start? I might be using wrong names for those items.

I am using (for now) Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS with Gnome Classic desktop.

OFF TOPIC - I am getting pretty frustrated with Ubuntu since the 12.04 release and the switch to that stupid Unity; quality and dependability have gone down the tubes. My other Linux boxes are no longer running Ubuntu, and I am thinking seriously about moving this last computer to another distro. Sorry, I just had to vent!
