My kind of discussion. My only problem with google disconnect in foxfire is that I cannot view google blogs when it's enabled.

All of these addons are availble for Chrome too, and oddly, I can still view google blogs with Chrome when google disconnect is enabled.

Wish they'd come up with versions for Opera.

Which Ubuntu version are you on? My Raring installation does the exact same. It never shows anything in Collusion.
But, Quantal, Precise and Lucid do show lots of activity in Collusion. It shows that google does not connect to everything like it used to.

Doesn't ghostery take care of this? I use it on chromium.

I doubt it. Install Collusion and see. If Collusion shows google attaching itself to every site you visit, then that would confirm no.
I only use Firefox, so I am not sure if chromium has Collusion as an addon.

You generally have to do some surfing before collusion will show anything. If you start Firefox or whatever you use it
will probably be a black box until you go to google and a bunch of other sites and then take a look at collusion.
It should then show the sites you have been on with lines attaching the sites that can get info from other sites.
Although I cannot get it to work properly in Raring but, it's in development still.
Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Without the google disconnect addon, google attaches to about every site you go to.
The same for the other two; they have gotten pretty invasive.

I don't think Collusion works in a lot of OSs. It didn't work for me today on Windows 7, and a couple Ubuntus I have installed.
I know it worked on one of them and it showed me all I needed to see: that these addons do disconnect google, facebook and twitter from following you around every where you go.
Whether or not you use facebook or twitter or even google for that matter they are following you around.
When you go to a site and see in the right side of the address bar 1, 2 or 3 little circles, click on them and see what they say.
You will see that these three sites are being blocked.

More fuel for the google disconnect fire right here.

Granted if you are a criminal you deserve what you get but, do you really want google and gmail doing the policing?
I have a gmail account for my android phone and that is about all it's used for - the adroid market.
