Best Linux for Dell Dimension 2350 (users opinion)

    Stock Dell Dimention 2350
    Added 1GB ram
    Added DVD Burner Drive

This is the post I wish I had read before trying all the distrobutions that I tried

All the Distros I tried had same problem Video Looked Terrible the os would "work" it was just ugley
This applied to any flavor of 13.10 I tried.
I could fix the way it lookd with the creation of the ????.conf file

then Dimension 2350 would not resume Tried S3 and S1 settings in BIOS.

Got great advice (as usual)from many people on here they directed me to Distrobutions for Old Old machines like the Dimension 2350

Linux Lite OS 1.0.6 worked great out of the box. video, resume,

I am not sure why since it uses ubuntu as well.

had to manually install lite user manager and lite Software manager some how they did not get packaged.

Linux Lite, was: Re: Best Linux for Dell Dimension 2350 (users opinion)

    Hi,

Triggered by your post I tried Linux Lite in a VM, and ... very nice, very fast.
I needed the CLI to install Chromium, I don't know how to add Chromium to the lower left icon bar, but the rest looks good

Triggered by your username: are you really an XP Refugee? Were you using XP on that Dell machine before?

Yes I do service work as a hobby
Most of the people who bring me broke computers use XP Home
I have been able to help them maintain their systems but with the comming XPocolypse
I needed to find an alternative I like Mint but could not get it to "work reliably"
Lite 1.0.6 came with Firefox so I had no need to install Chromium but
I am SOOOOOOO new to this that I may not even know if I need to install Chromium
