    Re: Issues with Unity on 12.10

    Hi again stinkeye.

    Code:
    $ lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 vga
    01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV635 [Mobility Radeon HD 3650] [1002:9591]
    	Subsystem: Sony Corporation Device [104d:9035]
    	Kernel driver in use: radeon
    The setsid command did restart Unity, but didn't brought back the Launcher

    Thanks for the help in any case.

    Re: Issues with Unity on 12.10

    Ok, after a few days banging my head I'm finally arriving somewhere. I had to take the laptop somewhere and noticed that the Launcher reappeared. Back home I set out to try different configurations and here's what I got:

    • Internal monitor on (external off): Launcher present;
    • Desktop shared between internal and external monitor: Launcher present;
    • Desktop mirrored into both internal and external monitors: no Launcher;
    • External monitor on (internal off): Launcher present.

    At home I usually boot with the the external monitor linked and the laptop lid closed, by some reason Ubuntu was mirroring the image with this configuration and the Launcher would be gone. So for now I can work with one of the monitors turned off, the only issue is when I need to mirror the image in a presentation.

    As for the wallpaper, Ubuntu is failing to mount at start up the drive where it is stored .
