How do you permanently save boot commands?

I had some problems with nouveau keeping my computer from booting Ubuntu.

    Fortunately this thread helped me:

The only problem is that I have to edit the boot scripts when GRUB starts and add nomodeset every time I want to boot Ubuntu.

How can I permanently save the boot script to always include the string "nomodeset"?

Thanks a lot, I read it and ended up installing the drivers.
