On becoming a certified Ubuntu professional

Can't find a place to post this, so here goes...

I've got my A+ and Network+ and I'm interested in adding Ubuntu to the mix. I remember seeing some stuff on the Ubuntu and Canonical sites in the past on certification, but now I can't find anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Some basic info, you may need to check LPI (Linux Professional Institute) foundation out, they apparently administer the Ubuntu certifications. see next post

This was stopped/scrapped quite some time ago.

You are better off getting Red Hat certified anyway if you wanna work in the linux field.

More companies use Red Hat Linux than any other distro.

Great. Thank you for the replies. Then I will start with an all-around GNU/Linux and GNU/Linux Networking course and maybe then get a RedHat course.

You already have Network+ and A+ which are both put out by CompTIA, so check out their Linux+ exam next:

I hear it's fairly basic and anyone who works with Linux on a daily basis, even hobbyists, should be able to pass it with little effort.

The cert from RH is also worth checking out as others mentioned, but I hear it's VERY involved to get.

Ubuntu = Linux for newbies errr I mean Human beings.

And that's how most Linux professionals see it.

It's getting more popular on servers, but you're much better getting certification in other distros like Redhat. Also being able to prove that you can use systems such as FreeBSD, Slackware and CentOS are useful. Really you need to get some experience with Lampp servers, PHP and Java if you want to work in that field. Experience using VPS servers and virtual machines is also good. If you know about those things and can prove it you'll be able to get pretty good jobs. I've got some good jobs just by being in the right place at the right time. Why? Because there is a big demand, but not enough people out there who are capable of doing it.
