live dvd's won't install or let me try ubuntu

I recently built a computer and wanted to dual boot ubuntu with windows 7. I successfully dual booted in the past with my old computer with 12.04 both with wubi and a live cd. But with my new computer I have had zero success with wubi (it says it installs but then when I select it at the boot menu all I get is a black screen) and with two live dvd's for both 12.04 and 12.10, with which the disk boots but anything else is just a blank screen (on the first try with 12.10 I got to the splash screen but then it froze and now a black screen from then on). If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

PS I have a Nvidia GTX 660 ti, could this have any affect on the installation?

    Thanks

I also tried using the same dvd (12.04) on my old computer and it worked perfectly fine. (this has an radeon graphics card)

Take a look at this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132

Might get you booted into the installer.
