    Webcams on Ubuntu

    1.
    System Settings... -> Sound -> Input => Problem: autoselect is not working - manual setup required instead.

    How to force auto selection?
    How to set mic volume to keep max values all the time (it always starts at minimum and manual volume increase is always required)?

    Conditions:
    - System: Ubuntu 11.10 / 64bit
    - Webcam: Logitech c310
