Blinking dashes at top of screen

Edit: Replace window with screen in title

Since I upgrade to 12.10, I've had these blinking dashes across the top of my screen. In some places on the screen, there are two stacked one above the other.

I keep thinking that with the next update this will go away but not so far.

I have an AMD ATI Cedar Pro Radeon 5450/6350 graphics card and my driver is listed at the Vesa:Cedar.

    Thanks

Are you using the open source drivers?

I found this bug: on Launchpad as well as other issues like here

I have a laptop with an older AMD card but it works amazingly well with just the open source drivers.

There are lots of posts at http://askubuntu.com/

Thanks, I looked at that post at askubuntu and then switched to the xorg driver.

After two reboots, it does seem to have solved the problem. I'm not really sure because there have been plenty of other times where those blinking dashes disappeared only to reappear on the next boot.

I'll mark this solved for now but I may be back.

    Thanks again.
