    Just Curious

Has anyone taken a look at the daily builds lately of ubuntu 13.04?
I was just wondering if they were using the 3.8 kernel as of yet?

Just wondering, as i read it had quite a few improvements on it...

The raring git repo is still based on 3.7

    http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubunt....git;a=summary

Until they rebase to 3.8, then do some package uploads based on that, the daily iso builds will stay with kernel 3.7.

You can always check available package versions at http://packages.ubuntu.com/.

For your query you'd just search for the linux package to see this page:

There are significant improvement for some hardware and in some areas.

For example, the graphics on this laptop is much smoother as a result of the changes that went into the DRM etc drivers for 3.8.

There are several of us, that can't successfully boot from any version of the 3.7 kernel.

Interesting, i was wondering as i remember reading some info regarding the
history of the GNU Project. They downplayed the importance of the kernel
to about 3% of the total system. I am trying to find the article.

I know the article you're talking about.

It's true that it may only be 3% of the system, but its the 3% at the bottom of the pile. Remove it and everything else falls over

    Edit - Is this it?
