Jack headphone not working

I have ubuntu 12.04LTS updated. My laptop is a HP Pavillion DV6, and music used to work correctly through jack until some days ago. Now it doesn't; it does work through internal speakers though. I suppose it must be after some system update it stopped working.

Could it be that there is a physical issue with the jack?
