.Private folder is eating up my HDD space.

I have 150 GB for the Ubuntu 11.10 system.
However, my .Private folder in /home folder is taking up 106 GB.
The .Private folder's content has name like

    Code:
    ECRYPTFS_FNEK_ENCRYPTED.FWZo.N3z9N.LXUQMgYlZ7RBhtJepr6jWzbEV2EZ2uut4DlJN8e.znEAdl---
    Two questions.
Why is the .Private folder eating up my space?

How do I get my HDD space back?

It looks like the .Private folder contains a container file with an encrypted file system and data. This probaby answers your first question.
To reclaim the space in your / partition, you will need to move these data to another partition.
