    How to revert back to Ubuntu from Xubuntu

    I had changed my ubuntu 12.04 TLS to Xubuntu with the help of this tutorial as per the advice

    You can choose Unity over XFCE when you log in, so it can be perfectly fine to leave things as they are. But if you really want to uninstall the extra packages that came with Xubuntu then you can try looking at this tutorial:

    I would reinstall Ubuntu using live cd , selecting an option to dual boot or complete write over xubuntu

    There is no need to reinstall.

    The OP only installed a new desktop, they can choose the other DE at login.

    The tutorial of Pjotr involves a cleanup, removing Unity components. Some reinstallation will thus be needed, though, indeed, not a full installation.

    1) Reinstall the Ubuntu desktop, installing "ubuntu-desktop"
    2) (optionally) clean up the Xubuntu desktop using the psychocats site (make sure to pick the unstructions that apply to your Ubuntu version)
