Re: Rooting Kindle Fire 2nd gen version 10.2.4

    Hey Dave,
So I was able to succesfully remove tmp, so that now when I run ls in /data/local I get

    fbmode
    nbmode
    temp.prop
    tmp.prop

    however, when I run

    $ echo 'ro.kernel.qemu=1' > /data/local.prop

    I get a lovely

/system/bin/sh: cannot create /data/local.prop: Permission denied

then, curious, I ran ls again in /data/local, and tmp was back!
so I figured that tmp.prop and temp.prop where prompts that created tmp if it is missing. so i removed them, as well as tmp..
However when I rebooted, and checked it again, tmp was still there! and that means I deleted two files that I have no clue what they did and for no reason!

anyways I tried removing tmp and continuing without rebooting and I still got
    echo 'ro.kernel.qemu=1' > /data/local.prop
/system/bin/sh: cannot create /data/local.prop: Permission denied

    Any ideas?

This site has a method that works with Kindle Fire 2nd generation, non-HD, non-HDX tablets:

    staticchaos.freeoda.com/fire

    It is Windows-only though.
