    very slow booting

    Hi.


    for quite some time i've been having very slow boot on my ubuntu 11.10. Sometimes it takes more than 3 minutes. Have no idea what's causing this.

    You seem to have three items which take a while to initialize.

    The first is udevd which is a daemon that I believe you shouldn't tamper with.

    The second is your ethernet connection which can't find an ipv6 router.

    The third one is your graphics driver which is for intel boxes.

    I am wondering if you did any modifications to any of these which may have caused a slowdown

    Hi, for the ipv6 issue you can click on your network settings, edit connections, wireless ipv6 and set it to ignore that should take care of that issue.

    Already deactivated IPV6 but it remains the same.
    Udevd? can i turn it off? How? What will it do if i turn it off?

    About the graphic card, i made some changes in my hardware. I upgraded my cpu and graphic card. I'm not sure, but i think the problem existed before that upgrade.

    Mine, at least the 32 bit version of 12.10 hangs for a full minute at nf-conntrack, but only for 5 seconds on my 64 bit version of Quantal.

    Any ideas why this is happening?

    I ran across this on one of my Ububoxes awhile back. 4 or 5 mins. to boot. I think it was looking at the 250Gb external USB hard drive for something to boot from or was at least reading the file system on it.

    If I remember right, I even went into the bios and set the boot order for usb last but that didn't work.

    After that I tried to remember to unplug all the USB drive before rebooting.
