    Re: Free FPS on Linux.

Assuming I have understood this thread,

    Specs
    MB: Asus p7p55d-e turbo-v Evo. Lga 1156 socket. DDR3x4. PCI-E x16
    RAM: Corsair 2x2Gb ddr3 1666mhz
Graphics: Zotac Geforce 9500GT Nvidia 1gb
    CPU: i3 intel 520 3.2Ghz (clocked to 3.5)
HD: Seagate 250gb ... something.. something...

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

All settings set to Ultra with Dx9 "including shadow settings"
    fps in major cities: 11FPS
outwith major cities (Karasang wilds- Pandaria) : 17FPS
    Mogushan vaults 10man Raid: 35FPS

Blizzard seem to have made the raid content very fps friendly.

With the shadow settings set to ultra, the screen will occasionally black out, removing parts if not the entire UI and visibility. however, I believe this is due to my feeble graphics card.

    Shadow settings at "Disabled"

    Major cities: 23FPS
    Karasang wilds - Pandaria: 29FPS
Mogushan vaults 10man Raid: (up to) 85FPS.

You can see the clear difference in FPS without the shadow settings. and frankly i dont see much of a graphical improvement with them.

Hope this proves useful to somebody, if not myself in the future haha.

urban-terror runs 60 fps on a PentiumD dual-core 2.9 Ghz. UT is only a single-core game engine, but because it is client-server based, you get decent performance on older hardware. It's all software rendering using OpenGL, so you don't need a nuclear graphics card.

Wait, are we giving FPS away for free? Cuz I totally need some. I'll have 60 FPS, please. Don't wanna be greedy.

Do you not think the OP perhaps means... First Person Shooter?

    Re: Free FPS on Linux.

Don't we already have topics for this, though? =P I know the last one was for free games in general, but there are tons of articles on the Internet that talk about and review free shooters, all from a quick and easy Google search.

There are so many free FPS for Linux, I can't be bothered to list them all. These articles cover quite a few of them, though.

Most of the shooters in this article have Linux ports as well.

No, I'm pretty sure he meant frames per second. It's a better deal that way; I've already got a bunch of free first person shooters.

Pretty sure "list any and all" may not pertain to frames-per-second; still terribly vague, but I'm confident he just wanted us to provide links to all the free ones out there, which Wikipedia already has covered. =P

I'm pretty sure at this point that since he hasn't replied, he's been playing with us all and hoarding all the FPS to himself.
