Execute File From Nautilus Not Working

    Ubuntu 13.04 x64

When I try to run a file as a program from Nautilus like:

    ubuntu.intit.sh
    mouse.sh
    SickBeard.py

    etc.

It just opens in Gedit. I have made sure the executable bit is set and Nautilus is set to, "Allow Executing File as Program."

You need to change in nautilus > Preferences as in screen, current default is to view. (for non root nautilus use)

Ah ha. They moved the preferences. Now you have to go to Files/Preferences. I was looking at the gear icon where settings should be.

    Thanks, that was easy.

    Have a good week.
