12.04 / No Sound After Install

My sound settings for output is showing Digital Output (S/PDIF) while I am thinking this should be (Speaker) however, there is nowhere to change it. Alsamixer screenprint below:

    My audio/Alsainfo is @

ALSA info looks okay at a glance (I don't claim to be an expert at reading alsa info's more advanced details, though). It sounds like pulseaudio is only offering digital output. Can you make a pulseaudio log?: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log

EDIT: Note that your alsa info link is borked (has an extra "http://" on the end). You may want to fix it so others can read it).

Thanks much. I have fixed the link.

I was able to generate a pulseverbose.log but am stuck at "Open your Launchpad bug and attach the file ~/pulseverbose.log (in your home directory) to that message."

My "Launchpad bug"??? Where do I find that?

You don't have one (at least not yet). Just pastebin it and link to it here or paste it between [ code ][ /code ] tags.

The singular file is quite verbose and wouldn't load in the message so I have attached it as Word files. Hope this helps and thanks in advance.

It's really hard to read the log like that. I'd suggest opening a bug on Launchpad against pulseaudio and attaching the pulse log (as PLAIN TEXT) to it.

Remember you said I didn't have the "launchpad bug" as yet? I tried uploading the file as txt here but it was larger than was allowed. I'll try to see if I can come up with a smaller-sized file.

ETA: I figured out what this launchpad stuff is and did as you suggested.

In Sound Settings, in the Output tab, you change the "connector."

Thanks, but as per screenshot, there is nowhere to change anything.

    Click on "Speakers".
