Yep, there's definitely a "disconnect", for lack of a better word.

    Re: GNOME3 Staging PPA

Ok, gnome-shell should be working again. I had to disable a lightdm integration patch until we figure out how to get it working correctly without breaking the user menu. I haven't experienced the "unable to enter text with the keyboard" bug in gnome-shell dialogs in a couple days.

I can confirm the Unity theming bug. The PPA *does* break some Unity design and integration so I don't think we'll push the troublesome packages to the GNOME3 PPA until those problems are fixed.

    Sounds prudent.

I used GS for 9+ hours, today. No problems here.

Just did an upgrade, via Synaptic. Still no GS probs.

Unity is the "problem child", right now...

As far as menus, ect. IIRC from about a month or so ago if you were to switch to a gtk 3.7+ supported theme then for the most part a ubuntu session would be ok
Likely a very short list of such themes, then the only one I saw was the spartan adwaita

Here is my theming (is that a word?)...

    Been working great in GS!

    Sorry for being rudimentary, but...

    Re: GNOME3 Staging PPA

    Speaking of g-c-c...

I just stepped through all of the options, in the User Menu.

They all worked, except "Settings -> Hardware -> Power".

g-c-c exits, with no error dialog , when I click the "Power" icon.

    EDIT

    Error dialog...

    Code:
    (gnome-control-center:5442): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power' does not contain a key named 'lid-close-ac-action'

    Re: GNOME3 Staging PPA

The Gnome3 Staging PPA works fine here too (with adwaita theming).
Also the old gnome-panel 3.6.2 is working (but not the session gnome classic no effects).
    I am using nvidia-current (313.09) from xorg-edgers PPA.

    Re: GNOME3 Staging PPA

I am trying to be a will participant but, I am not into adding extra PPA's that you already know are going to break.
But, I have had Raring running fairly flawlessly not using unity but, classic gnome.
Have Compiz, Emerald, CCSM, the cube and Cairo Dock all working great. The cube rotates in 3D and I managed to put colors on the top and bottom.
I had to use Application Switcher in CCSM to get ALT+TAB to work in gnome.
I got VinDSL's conky installed and updated to match my system (and added 13.04 to my signature).

Just going with the updates that come down the pipe. I had a hard time getting the thing to install as it was trying to use my USB drive
and would only install when I turned it off. But, I haven't hardly been able to get it to break for the last week or so. I get an error occasionally but, it doesn't force a reboot or anything.

    Am I doing it wrong?

    Re: GNOME3 Staging PPA

OK, I have two fresh mini.iso installs of Ubuntu-GNOME-Remix running and I want to see what's cooking with the new Gnome classic session (yes I know it's still in the works) so I think I'll keep one install pretty much pure Raring but I'd like to use this PPA with the other.

But I have a dumb question

Do you recommend using this PPA all by it's lonesome, or in combination with the standard Gnome3 PPA?

EDIT: I should have looked first. I see there are no Raring packages in the standard Gnome3 PPA yet.
