    This looks like god stuff... I wrote a program that backs up selected directories. But it checks if the current file has been backed up before, and if so, it checks if the file to be backed up is newer than the one that had been backed up previously.

    But this has a GUI and all kinds of other options available so I hardly ever use it myself, I made it for my computer-n00b father. I'm going to check out rsync me thinks...

    - "sudo make me a coffee"
    - "OK"

    any backing up i do i usually use deja-dup. Might try rsync sumtime

    Before backing up I usually take these 5 simple steps.

    1. What to backup.
    2. Where to put them.
    3. Give 5 situations WHY you need a backup. *critical*
    4. How do you want to restore it?
    5. Choose a backup up strategy.
    It's OK, everything we know will become obsolete at some time.

    rsync is epic. I've done trans-atlantic rsync jobs and it just works.
