ffmpeg, other media players/converters and tutorials and tips.

Just recompiling my copy of FFmpeg now, I had no idea there was a subtitle filter . Moments like this I wish for the old Forums days when there was a place to discuss the newest changes in MPlayer, FFmpeg and vlc .
You think that's air you're breathing now?

Careful Andrew, infractions have been served up for less you know No reason why we couldn't start a howto/news thread in Multimedia and Video section, though....
The best things in life are free, so what are we paying for?

Where did you get the idea that there was no place to discuss the changes in mplayer, ffmpeg and vlc ?

A news thread with the latest tips etc would be great.

As it stands, that isn't going to happen. The great Ubuntu documentation that used to be posted in the T&T section should be available to the entire Ubuntu community collaboratively in the wiki.......

    Anyways, back on topic

An excellent idea! Thanks for this Merratic...

I think you missed the point.
Indeed. But this painful battle has been lost I guess although I am very excited to see the FFmpeg documentation still flourishing and growing away from Ubuntu space .

    I don't think so.

I have separated the two discussions. Feel free to continue this one.

Indeed. And the doomsday prophets were correct about December 21, so we're not really here....
But seriously, T&T are still around, as was announced some time ago.

    Closed.

There is nothing to be gained from going over this.

The chance to talk this over is past, there was a FC meeting in the normal place 9 months ago - no-one bothered to turn up.
