When I boot up I get error message or missing file message

it is likely you are running UEFI https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuSecureRemix

Also raring ringtail is still an Alpha release I presume you know that

I am dual booting Windows 8 ubuntu 13.04 ad Bodhi linux 12.04 all on the same computer. I use different hard drives for linux systems and have no problem that way
