    Need to fix: (synaptic:16001): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string

    Hello. I get this error when synaptic crashes:

    (synaptic:16001): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text()

    How do I fix this?

    Usually a warning indicates a non-fatal (yet undesired) condition.

    Something else is probably crashing synaptics. Care to elaborate on the usecase that caused this crash?
