Sapphire radeon hd 7770 ghz edition 1GB problems Ubuntu 12.04
Hello
Has anyone managed to install a Sapphire radeon hd 7770 ghz edition 1GB graphics card on Ubuntu 12.04? If so did they have any problems?
I have been struggling the last couple of days.
Re-installed Ubuntu 12.04 from scratch a number of times.
Same issues though:
Laggy Unity performance
Random application freezes & crashes (e.g Firefox locks up when you press the Back button???)
Sound card appears to be disabled
General system instability
(card is works as it should in Windows)
Any pointers would gratefully received
Regards

What Video Card driver are you using?
The native one that is built into Ubuntu or the Proprietary one from ATI/AMD?

Hello Spectre
I would say its using the native driver... As I've run though the Propriety Hardware wizard - downloaded and installed the drivers. TBH not sure if they've installed correctly though.

You could try installing the "ATI binary X.Org driver" that can be found in the Ubuntu Software Center.

Hello Spectre
I've decided to install 12.10 instead... so far everything is working as it should.
(wouldn't mind getting the card working on 12.04 though)
Will try what you suggested
Kind regards
