System monitor says I'm using GNOME?

I'm running Ubuntu 12.10. In system monitor, System tab:

    Release 12.10 (quantal) 64-bit
    Kernel Linux 3.5.0-19-generic
    GNOME 3.6.0

And I see GNOME logo on the left side. Is it supposed to be like that? I installed GNOME once, but returned to Unity (uninstalled GNOME and reinstalled Unity and lightdm)

Unity is a replacement for the Gnome Shell, not for Gnome in its entirety. The basis is still Gnome (though there are quite a few upstream choices that are not being followed <cough>Nautilus</cough>)
    I'm thinking about it
