Dual boot machine GRUB not installed

I have a PC with Windows 7 and recently tried installing Ubuntu 12.04. I unallocated enough free space on my hard drive and told the ubuntu installer to use said space. Everything went fine untill instalation completed, at which point a message appeared saying GRUB hadnt been installed.
I've been booting with the help of supergrub disk ever since, and I know both operatig systems are in functioning state.

How do I fix this? can I install GRUB or do I have to reinstall both OSs?

    thanks in advance
