    That would be why only your user has rw permissions.

    Run this:

    Code:
    chmod -R 666 /data/OVA/
    Use sudo if it gives you permission denied errors.

    Then try importing again.

    I must run sudo otherwise it doesn't work.

    But something strange happened.

    Forgot the execute bit.

    Code:
    sudo chmod -R 775 /data/OVA/

    Hi,

    Your advice works. satimis(administrator) and users can import VMs after login their accounts. Thanks

    But there are 2 problems popup;

    1)
    After login their own accounts users can import any VM.

    2)
    Administrator can't view all VMs, running on the PC, on his account unless login users' account.

    How to setup:-
    1)
    User can't import VM or even unable to visit /data folder/directory. Only administrator can import the VMs on user's account allowing user running the VMs. Users are only allowed running the VMs on their own accounts

    2)
    Administrator can view all imported VMs running on the PC

    TIA

    Regards
    satimis

    Not possible with Virtualbox because it doesn't support fine grained permissions and each user only has access to their VMs.

    Advice noted.

    I'm considering allowing the users working on remote desktop. The VMs are running on the host PC but the users is only allowed to access the VMs remotely, i.e. starting the desktop of VM on their local PCs. Users are NOT allowed to use the host PC, Would it be a solution? Comment and suggestion would be appreciated.

    I haven't run remote desktop for sometimes. Just tested it with following steps;

    (without freenx-server. I did it quite often in the past)

    Server Port: 3389
    IP of VM: 192.168.0.247

    On user's PC run;

    $ ssh -X satimisd600dk00@192.168.0.247

    satimisd600dk00@deb600dk00:~$ gnome-session

    Remote desktop started but the background is still local desktop.

    The top bar of the remote desktop is on the left top bar. I can start its applications. But I couldn't figure out how to display the complete remote desktop with background on the local screen. IIRC I did it in the past.

    Advice would be appreciated. TIA

    You could do that but it would be easier to just run NX on the VM and let them connect that way.

    Whether following link;

    is relevent to its setup? Thanks

    That only applies if you want to do single-signon. If each user has their own account on each VM, you don't need to worry about it.

    Noted. Thanks

    I'm not very clear whether just enable PAE/NX

    On
    Settings -> System -> Processor
    Extended Features [v] Enable PAE/NX

    Re:
    Chapter 3. Configuring virtual machines
    http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.htm

    "Processor" tab
    Code:
    In addition, the "Enable PAE/NX" setting determines whether the PAE and NX capabilities of the host CPU will be exposed to the virtual machine. PAE stands for "Physical Address Extension". Normally, if enabled and supported by the operating system, then even a 32-bit x86 CPU can access more than 4 GB of RAM. This is made possible by adding another 4 bits to memory addresses, so that with 36 bits, up to 64 GB can be addressed. Some operating systems (such as Ubuntu Server) require PAE support from the CPU and cannot be run in a virtual machine without it.
    Do I need installing NX on the host and the remote machine as well?

    Linux + GNU = Humans Enabled
    How to install NX Free Edition on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin

    How to connect VM on remote PC via NX displaying its desktop locally?
