Question Why doesn't Ubuntu 12.10 include Firefox preinstalled since it is aimed at DVD

    Hi,

Had a quick question, I was surprised when I did a clean install of Kububtu 12.10 that I still needed to download Firefox before I could start using it.

I thought it was removed to conserve space on the CD ROM. But even from a DVD with ample space to spare I was still required to download it before using it.

Is there a good reason I am missing?

    Cheers!

firefox is a GTK app. while the default web browser reconq is Qt based app (i.e. it's a KDE app firefox is a Gnome thing). a link is there for easy & fast install.

i had to install firefox to windows 7 as well.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Full disk backup (newer kernel -> suitable for newer PC): Clonezilla
User friendly full disk backup: Rescuezilla

Ahh k, thanks for the reply. So if I was using straight Ubuntu it would have been there even when the ISO could fit on a CD?

    Cheers!
